Georgia FPC closes October 30 — what you can still put together in two weeks

Georgia's personnel-only FPC grant closes October 30 at 11:59 p.m. What a two-week application looks like, and the one registration to start today.

Georgia's Funds for Protection of Communities (FPC) stops accepting applications at 11:59 p.m. on October 30, 2026. The GEMA/HS program page now states October 30, matching the application form, which settles the earlier question of whether the deadline was the 30th or the 31st.

Two weeks is short for most security grants. For this one it can be enough, because of what the FY27 round is: it pays only for contracted security personnel — guard services and law-enforcement details — not equipment. A personnel budget is built from quotes, not from a facility assessment and an equipment list, and the application does not require a formal vulnerability assessment. You demonstrate a security concern, which can rest on documented threats, prior incidents, police reports, large gatherings, or the visible characteristics of your facility.

What to do, in order

  • Get written quotes first. Call security contractors or your local law-enforcement agency about off-duty details, and price the actual coverage: which post, how many hours a week, at what rate, for how long. The request must land between $25,000 and $150,000, and the period of performance runs October 1, 2026 to June 1, 2027 — so price coverage inside that window.
  • Start your SAM.gov registration today, even though you do not need it to apply. The application form says you must hold a valid Unique Entity ID when awards are made, and registration takes roughly 7 to 10 business days — about what you have.
  • If you lease your building, get the owner's written permission for the proposed security measures. This is part of the application, and a landlord's signature is the step you cannot compress.
  • Write the justification last, once the quotes exist: the documented concern, the post it justifies, and the coverage you priced.
  • Submit through the Georgia EM Grants Manager at ga.emgrants.com. Late and incomplete applications are not accepted, so do not plan on October 30 itself.

What does not fit

Cameras, locks, lighting, fencing, construction. The FY27 allowable list is contracted personnel only. An equipment project belongs in the federal Nonprofit Security Grant Program, which has typically opened its next round in the spring — the FY2027 federal notice has not been posted.

If two weeks is not enough

Do not submit an incomplete application to make the date. Use the time instead on the two items that block every future round: the SAM.gov registration and a facility vulnerability assessment. The next FPC round has not been announced, but both of those carry over to whatever opens next.
